Australian Bob Muir joined SCCA’s L&M Championship circuit midway
through the 1972 season and in four races earned enough points to
place ninth overall in the standings in a Lola T300. For 1973, he plans
to campaign the full series in a T330 Lola. He began his racing career
in a Formula Vee and in 1969 won the New South Wales sports car
championship. Highlights of his competition in 1971 were third-place
finishes in the Singapore and Kuala Lumpur Grands Prix for Formula 2
cars. In addition to U.S. Formula 5000 competition last year, Muir
competed in the Australian Tasman Championship events and won the
Diamond Trophy F/5000 race at Sydney’s Oran Park Raceway. He is
the director of Robert Muir Motors in Burwood, a suburb of Sydney.
